Sandra A. Crowell’s passion for storytelling is deeply rooted in her upbringing on a historic ranch in the stunning Colorado Rockies. This rich environment increased her love for people, history, and the natural world, inspiring her to unearth and share untold narratives.
With a career as an adult educator and a writer, Sandra has dedicated her efforts to two Northwest Indian tribes, gaining invaluable insights into Indigenous experiences and issues. Now residing in Olympia, Washington, she actively engages her community through volunteering at writers’ conferences, delivering history presentations, and supporting homeless services.
Each of her books reflects her commitment to preserving history and honoring the environment. The Ravaged Forest is her fourth nonfiction book as an author and editor, continuing her mission to amplify vital voices.
Her previous works include Up the Swiftwater, The Land Called Lewis, and Water, Woods & Prairies.
